Captain of my Ship

Ok, it was not a ship but only a 34-foot cruiser. And I was not the Captain by any stretch of the imagination. And yet, piloting our very own boat (after a 30 minute lesson) for 4 days on Gippsland Lakes in Victoria was an adventure.

If you have ever tried parking a boat, you will understand what I mean. I imagine it to be like remote control of the probe that just landed on the comet. Nothing is instantaneous. There’s always a lag. It took us forever to park it in the photo below.

And therein, was the sense of achievement for us. Stepping outside what we know and trying something totally new. It was great!
